“This recording is a pairing of two works by composers whose styles would appear at first glance to be in sharp contrast. Despite two centuries separating their composition, Johann Sebastian Bach’s Suite No.1 ( BWV 1007 ) and Leo Brouwer’s Suite No.2 share distinct similarities. Bach & Brouwer is an album which forms a larger musical and expressive gesture which I hope encourages the listener to delve deeper into the music.”

Spanish and French guitar music from Paris. It´s a mixture of French impressionistic sounds and Spanish rhythms. Spanish composers like De Falla, Rodrigo and Turina, who became friends during their student years in Paris, attempted to combine Ravel’s and Debussy’s impressionistic sounds with their own Spanish roots and encouraged one another to rediscover Spanish folk music idioms.

Enjoy the wonderful variety of Gary’s latest CD recording featuring music from the Renaissance period and transcriptions of J.S.Bach to the 20th Century with Henze, Jobim, Dyens and Russell ending with a superb selection of some of his own most recent compositions including the ever popular Benga Beat.

‘Like the standing wave in front of a rock in a fast-moving stream, a city is a pattern in time.’

John Holland

‘A piece of music can be considered a pattern in time but the strange thing is that it doesn’t really exist until it is being played… A great work also captures something of the era in which it was written and then travels through time via aural tradition… or in notated form to be performed hundreds of years later.’
